Vehicle Comparisons:
2018 Toyota Camry vs Nissan Altima

When searching for a dependable midsize car near San Diego, Kearny Mesa, and El Cajon, many drivers look for lots of safety features, a roomy interior, and good fuel economy. These characteristics could describe many vehicles, including the Toyota Camry vs. Nissan Altima. But which one would be right for you?

To help answer that question, our team at Norm Reeves Toyota San Diego created this 2018 Toyota Camry vs. 2018 Nissan Altima comparison. Read all about these vehicles below, and contact us if you have any questions.

Advanced Safety Features

The Toyota Camry and Nissan Altima are known for their reliability, especially in emergency situations. For example, if you were to get into an accident, these cars will help protect you through an advanced airbag system that includes front, side-impact, and side curtain airbags. The Camry even includes knee airbags for the driver and front passenger, for further protection.

However, to help prevent an accident from occurring, these cars offer many driver-assisting technologies.

For example, the Camry comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense™ P. You’ll find many features in this suite, including Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection. If it determines an avoidable collision with a vehicle or pedestrian, it can automatically apply the brakes for you.

There’s also Dynamic Radar Cruise Control: Set a distance from the vehicle in front of you, and this system will maintain it, regardless of how slow traffic is going. There are similar driver-assisting technologies in the Altima. Unfortunately, they don’t all come standard.

Interior Space & Amenities

There’s plenty of space for five passengers in the 2018 Camry and 2018 Altima, especially in the back seat. The Camry has 38 inches of rear headroom and legroom. However, the Altima, while still spacious, has 37.1 inches of rear headroom and 36.1 inches of rear legroom.

But they both offer lots of amenities to help keep you comfortable, including leather-trimmed heated front seats.

They also each offer an 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support, to get in that perfect position behind the wheel. However, while the Camry has an available 8-way power-adjustable front-passenger seat, it’s only 4-way power adjustable in the Altima.

Performance Specs

The Toyota Camry comes standard with a peppy and fuel-efficient 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that delivers 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. It also helps the vehicle achieve an EPA-estimated 29 city/41 highway MPG.*

In comparison, the Nissan Altima comes standard with a 2.5L 4-cylinder that puts out 179 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque.

The vehicle isn’t as fuel-efficient, either, as it achieves an EPA-estimated 27 city/38 highway MPG.

The Camry also has three distinct drive modes, to give you more control on the road…

While the Altima gives a steady performance, it doesn’t offer different driving modes.
