Corolla vs Civic: Performance & Efficiency

toyota corollaBoth the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic are fuel-efficient, powerful sedans. The Toyota Corolla comes with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with Intelligence and Shift Mode for a smooth and powerful ride. As if that’s not enough, CVT also helps maintain fuel efficiency.

The new Civic, meanwhile, can’t quite match up to the smooth ride of the new Corolla. The transmission is less intuitive than its Toyota counterpart, and the overall ride is not as smooth. The CVT is only available as an addition to the car and does not come standard.

Audio Entertainment & Connectivity

toyota corolla technologyWhen it comes to the amenities of these sedans, the two cars couldn’t be more different. The 2019 Toyota Corolla has the Entune™ Audio Plus, with a standard 6.1-inch touchscreen and Siri® Eyes Free. It’s equipped with advanced voice recognition and syncs up with your Bluetooth® wireless technology so you can stream all your favorite podcasts and music for a fun and entertaining ride.

The 2019 Honda Civic entertainment features are somewhat less noteworthy. It has a 5-inch touchscreen with available SiriusXM® Radio, although that does not come standard. Its interface is less intuitive than the Toyota Corolla and does not offer Siri® Eyes Free, which can prove frustrating for some drivers. Overall, it just can’t match up in terms of entertainment options.

Toyota vs Honda: Driver Assistive Technology

Safety and convenience are key when driving, and the 2019 Toyota Corolla more than delivers on this front. The Toyota Corolla comes with Toyota Safety Sense™, a comprehensive system designed to help keep drivers safe on the road.

Toyota Safety Sense™ comes with a host of features, including a Pre-Collision System that helps reduce speed and apply brakes in the case of an oncoming collision. It lets the driver stay in control no matter what the driving conditions may be.

The safety features of the Honda Civic are pretty standard in comparison. While it offers its own version of a Pre-Collision System in the Collision Mitigation Braking System™, it does not come standard with automatic high beams and is far less intuitive and user-friendly than its Toyota counterpart.

The Honda Civic also comes with a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera with Guidelines, which can be helpful when backing up while parking. However, its features don’t match up to the options offered by the Toyota Corolla and the added security of Toyota Safety Sense™.
