2019 Highlander Engine Specs & Options
The Toyota Highlander offers three engine selections for drivers to choose from. The base trim comes standard with a 2.7-liter 4-cylinder that comes paired with a 6-speed automatic and can deliver 185 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The next engine is a 3.5-liter V6 that includes the 8-speed Direct Shift automatic and can generate 295 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. The final engine option is the 3.5-liter V6 hybrid, which produces 306 net horsepower and is mated to the Electronic Continuously Variable Transmission.
Passenger & Cargo Space
The Toyota Highlander opens up with 144.9 cubic feet of space for the eight passengers it can carry over three rows of seating. The interior can be customized by including captain’s chairs in the second row as opposed to the bench, which reduces the capacity to seven passengers. Each row behind the first can be folded partially, or completely, to make room for longer materials, or you can simply expand the overall cargo space.

Toyota Entertainment & Safety Technology
The 2019 Toyota Highlander includes the Entune™ Audio system. This system includes a 6.1-inch touchscreen display that utilizes enhanced voice recognition, which makes it even easier to select your preferred media or phone contacts from the road. The vehicle includes an AM/FM radio, a CD player, USB and auxiliary inputs, and Bluetooth® streaming and hands-free phone connectivity.
The Highlander also includes Toyota Safety Sense™ P. This feature includes several driver-assistance features like Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beams, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. These features use sensors mounted to the exterior of the vehicle to measure speed and proximity to provide warnings and assistance on the road.
