Engine Specs & Performance
The Toyota Tacoma comes with powerful specs under the hood, including two engine options.
The base trim comes standard with a 2.7-liter engine that generates 159 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. The other option is a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. This engine is also available with VVT-iW (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent Wider Intake) and VVT-I (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent Exhaust) for enhanced performance.
It comes down to preference of wanting all the bells and whistles or going with the basics. Either way, you’re sure to enjoy the power these engines generate. When properly equipped, the Toyota Tacoma can tow up to 6,800 pounds.
All this power doesn’t mean sacrificing efficiency. The Tacoma can achieve an EPA-estimated 20 city/23 highway MPG.*
Audio & Connectivity
When it comes to serving your needs for great audio and connective interfaces, the Toyota Tacoma has you covered. When you take it out on the road, you’ll notice that out of the box it is loaded with features that improve your overall driving experience.
It starts off with a 7-inch touchscreen and six speakers, allowing for direct control over different digital apps and other standard features. The numerous speakers give you a fuller sounding listening experience.
And as for those connective apps? The Tacoma comes equipped with Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay®, and Amazon Alexa. Smartphone owners, you’ll be accommodated for whichever phone model you own. Along with Bluetooth® tech, you’ll be able to safely stream your music, access your contacts, and more.
Safety Features
Keeping you safe while driving is vital. There are two different safety systems to ensure you’re protected as much as possible. They are the Star Safety System™ and the Toyota Safety Sense™ P.

The Star Safety System™ provides features dealing with brake technology and stabilization control. Some highlights from this system are Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Anti-lock Brake System with Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist, and Smart Stop Technology. As you can see, this system will make sure that the roads you take won’t give you much turbulence.
And in the Toyota Safety Sense™ P, there are features that work towards helping you avoid collisions and navigating the road. Some of the highlights are Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert, Automatic High Beams, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.
It’s easy to focus on one system over the other, but it’s better if you look at them as a team working in tandem. Each is specialized, but their benefits tend to overlap, so you get a cohesive and well-rounded safety package for extra peace of mind behind the wheel.
