How to Tell My Battery Is About to Die

It’s always good to look out for the signs that let you know your battery is about to die, so you can take measures to pull off to the side of the road safely. Luckily, there are a few signs that indicate that your battery is about to go, so you’ll want to keep your eyes out, so you’ll be prepared for when it dies.

You’ll see that your mileage readings are fluctuating, as well as the interior lights and touchscreen are flickering. You may also want to check your charge readings to see if it’s indicating low levels. When you first start your vehicle, if it takes a while to engage, it may mean that your battery is struggling to activate your vehicle or keep its charge going.

Jumping Your Toyota Prius Battery

If you’re lucky enough to have time before your battery goes out, you’ll want to pull your Prius over to the side of the road away from the flow of traffic. You’ll also want to turn your hazard lights on and try to flag someone down for a jump. Of course, if your battery dies in a parking lot, it’ll be much easier to get someone who’s willing to give you a jump.

1. The first step to knowing how to jump a Toyota Prius battery is by opening the hood, locating the engine, and removing the cover.
2. From there, you’ll want to connect the positive and negative cables to the correct terminals, which will be indicated with “+/-” on them.
3. You’ll then want to attach the cables to the corresponding terminals on the other vehicle.
4. Have the driver activate their vehicle and rev the engine to fully kick the vehicle on. Let the vehicle run for a few minutes before turning on your Prius.
5. Once your Prius turns on, you’ll want to remove the jumper cables off the other vehicle first before disconnecting the ones attached to your Prius.
6. Simply put the engine cover back on and leave your vehicle running for a few minutes to make sure it takes the charge.
