When it comes to navigating city roads or zipping through traffic, you’ll want a compact car with nimble handling and stellar efficiency. Both sedans deliver thrilling rides. Which one perfectly balances power with efficiency?
Both the 2022 Toyota Corolla and the Hyundai Elantra come standard with a 4-cylinder engine. They pack a comparable punch around 140 horsepower. They also work with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that provides a smooth ride and helps maximize efficiency.
If you’re looking for more power, both models offer a performance-tuned 4-cylinder engine. They’re tons of fun, but you’ll be able to keep the fun going with the Corolla. This configuration achieves an EPA-estimated 31 city/40 highway MPG, while the same configuration of the Elantra only manages an EPA-estimated 28 city/36 highway MPG.1
No matter where the road takes you, it’s important that you stay safe behind the wheel. Luckily, Toyota and Hyundai understand this and have armed the Corolla and the Elantra with advanced safety systems to keep you confident on the road.
Both the 2022 Corolla and the 2022 Elantra come standard with a suite of safety systems. For the Toyota Corolla, this suite is called Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.0, which comes with the following technologies:
As for the Hyundai Elantra, it utilizes comparable safety systems as part of its Hyundai SmartSense package. For instance, it comes with Lane Keeping Assist and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection, two standard features that warn you when one detects lane drifting and the other an impending frontal collision, respectively.
If you’re looking for even greater protection, the Corolla answers the call. Its standard Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is an advanced cruise-control system that maintains a set following speed and distance between you and the car ahead. The similar Smart Cruise Control of the Elantra is only available with its top trim level.
In the 2022 Toyota Corolla and the 2022 Hyundai Elantra, you’ll have a user-friendly infotainment system to personalize your commutes. On both systems, easily listen to your favorite playlists, stream a new podcast, and stay in touch with your friends on the go!
Sync up your compatible smartphones to the infotainment interface via Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®. These features will transform your touchscreen display into an extension of your smartphone!
When your favorite song comes on, you may have a better listening experience in the Toyota Corolla. It’s available with a 9-speaker JBL® sound system. The best sound system available with the Hyundai Elantra only comes with eight speakers.
The Corolla is also available with an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. An array of seating positions allows you to choose the one that makes you feel the most supported and comfortable throughout your journey. You may not be as comfortable in the Elantra, though, since it maxes out at an available 6-way adjustable driver’s seat.
