There’s nothing like the appreciation you get from a dog who’s grateful for having a warm and loving home. But if you’re thinking of adding a furry friend to the household, why not find one who really needs a family and a home. Rescue dogs make great pets because they’re happy to have a home, so when it’s time to find a dog or puppy in the San Diego area, Second Chance Dog Rescue can help you!

About Second Chance Dog Rescue

Second Chance Dog Rescue was founded by Sandra D. Simpson, Maria Blake, and Jason Cordoba in 2008 to help combat canine homelessness in their community. Since this non-profit was founded, it has helped rescue and place more than 8,000 dogs in loving homes.

They rely heavily on dedicated volunteers and dog-lovers to assist them with their day-to-day operations ensuring the dogs are taken care of, fed, and their medical needs are met. This rescue ensures that each rescue dog they take in is up on their shots and proper dietary needs based on their health and condition.

Taking Home Your Pup
Adopting a dog from Second Chance Dog Rescue is pretty easy. First, you’ll want to explore the dogs that they have currently at their rescue. The age and breeds vary, with plenty of options like Chihuahuas, Beagles, Dachshunds, Labs, Pitbulls, and more. There are also plenty of mixed breeds to choose from. You’ll have a hard time just picking one dog, so why not adopt more.

After having a list of a few dogs that you’re interested in adding to your family, you’ll want to fill out the application. It’s pretty standard with questions revolving around your home/yard, experience level with dogs, and more. After submitting the application and listing the dogs you want to meet, from there you’ll head to the rescue in-person and get to know the dogs on your list. Then, you can take home your new friend!

Get Involved!
Second Chance Dog Rescue works tirelessly to ensure that every dog they take in is cared for until the day they’re brought home. Of course, they would always use extra hands. If interested, you could volunteer your time and efforts, or donate to the rescue to ensure that they have everything they need to continue their great work for dogs in need in San Diego!
